Aquatics Center

The year-round indoor aquatic facility includes a full-sized swimming pool and a separate training pool for lap and open rec swim. To attain full access to the Aquatics facility, all youth ages 17 and under must successfully pass the Navy Youth Swim Test.

The outdoor splash pad is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and closes after Labor Day for the Fall and Winter Season.

Pool Punch Cards
Active-Duty, Reservists, Retired Military and their family members receive free pool access during the entire swimming season. See the front desk for punch card availability and pricing for DoD civilians, contractor and guests.

Private Pool Parties
Swim indoors this winter and book your party or get-together at the pool! Contact the Aquatics Center to make a reservation.


Navy Youth Swim License Eligibility

Courts & Fields

Courts and fields at NSF Dahlgren are available on a first-come, first-served basis or by reservation.

The base has the following facilities:

  • Tennis courts, located adjacent to Building 962
  • Regulation sports field
  • Two softball fields
  • Little League field

Fitness Center

The Fitness Center houses physical fitness and athletics. The facility offers a variety of recreational opportunities with circuit and free weights, a group exercise room, two racquetball courts and a full-sized basketball court. Cardio equipment provides patrons with the option to use treadmills, upright and recumbent bikes, elliptical machines, adaptive movement trainers or a step mill during their visit. It also offers men’s and women’s locker rooms, a family fitness room for parents with children ages 6-weeks to 6-years of age and a classroom for training opportunities. Contactors and visitors are subject to pay for facility services, please call the front desk for pricing.  

In addition to the Fitness Center, the ¾-mile track, behind building 101, provides patrons with additional exercise opportunities.  View the MWR Fitness Age Authorization Chart here, to see what ages are eligible to participate in Fitness activities/areas.

  • All Others with base access: Single Class: $4    /    8-class Punch: $24    /    20-class Punch: $50    /     Monthly Pass: $15

 

PERSONAL TRAINING: Customized sessions with expert trainers!

  • Active-Duty: $10/hour (includes free consultation)
  • Retired Military & Dependents: $15/hour (includes free consultation)
  • DoD Civilian & Contractor: $20/hour (includes free consultation)

Sports

The Fitness Center hosts a variety of intramural sports leagues and tournaments that are open to all patrons with access to the base. Some activities are free while others may have a minimal participation cost. Visit us at the Fitness Center, Bldg 1610 or call us at 540-653-8580.

Fall (Sep-Nov): Soccer, Men's Softball, Co-Ed Softball, Flag Football

Winter (Jan-Mar): Basketball, Racquetball, Futsal and Volleyball

Spring (Apr-Jun): Soccer, Co-Ed Softball and Flag Football

Summer (Jul-Sep): Basketball, Futsal and Volleyball

Seasonal Tournaments: Racquetball, Volleyball, Basketball, Dodgeball, and Walleyball,

Other outdoor sporting activities: Disc Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, 5K run series, etc.Please contact the fitness center at 540-653-8580 if you have ideas for other sports or tournaments that you’d like us to consider hosting on base.
