Food Service Worker
Responsibilities
Performs set up and break down of food service areas with hot and cold food, including meats, vegetables, salads, desserts, rolls and butter and beverages. Makes iced tea/coffee in large urns according to the number of servings desired, with responsibility for timing and brewing. Makes a variety of salads such as chicken salad, tuna salad, egg salad, fruit salad, Chef Salad, garden salad. Serves food in standard portions by placing uniform amounts in prescribed containers. Refills/replenishes items as necessary. Ensures compliance with sanitation, safety, fire, and security regulations. Makes simple sandwiches utilizing standardized recipes. May assist in operation of dishwasher and restore dish area to orderliness. Maintains order and cleanliness in food storage areas and paper storage areas. Empty garbage cans. Sweeps and mops floor areas. May be required to operate a cash register according to standard cash control procedures; is responsible for their own cash fund, completes daily activity report and secures deposit of daily cash receipts as needed. Performs other duties as required.
MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK NIGHTS, WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS
Conditions of Employment
Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays.
Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check. Any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
Qualifications
Skill to perform tasks with several steps and use judgment in the performance of sequential tasks. Concentration is required to serve uniform individual portions and to avoid distractions, such as when several people ask for different items at the same time. Working knowledge of common sanitation procedures to prevent contamination. Simple arithmetic and the ability to read instructions are necessary to prepare foods in the correct amount. Work involves light to moderate physical effort such as frequently lifting or moving objects weighing up to 30 pounds, constantly standing and walking and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds. Work areas are often uncomfortably warm and noisy. Workers are exposed to minor cuts and bruises. There is danger of slipping on wet floors. Workers are exposed to temperatures of hot kitchens and cold walk-in refrigerators. This position is subject to completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
